Best eats in upper west side of Manhattan?
I’ll be visiting NYC alone for a few days next week. I’m going to hear the MET Opera (La Sonnambula) and wondering what’s the best place to have lunch or breakfast. I love mediterranean food, asian cuisine (sushi, chinese food etc) I’d prefer not to have burgers or cheese stake lol. Any suggestions would be great!
Oh I also enjoy indian food…thanks!
There is a restaurant basically across the street from the Met called Sushi to go, but you can eat at the Restaurant. The Sushi is quite fresh and I”ve had some good meals from there. The restaurant Jasmine, that is right over there is a natural food restaurant and i’ve never had a bad meal there. Oh, I lived on 62nd Street for 6 years, so I do know the area. It has changed since i moved, a lot of my favorite restaurants have closed and a lot of big buildings have opened. Well, if you are in the mood for a 4 star restaurant, Terrance Brennan’s Picholine is right down the block, however you would have to start eating quite early to get a full meal in. Forget about the restaurants in the Times Warner, you won’t get a reservation under a year. I do believe that the cafe for Jean Georges may be open, but I’m not positive, you would have to check with the Trump building. Unfortunatly there aren”t that many restaurants in that area. But what I would say is the best restaurant in the area is Rosa Mexacana, at the corner of 62nd Street. You do need a reservation. The food is devine. I have always loved it and it isn’t the greasy taco type of mexican food, it is real food, unusual food that isn’t too spicy. The guacomole is made at your table and it is quite a production.
For Chinese there is an excellent resteraunt, I can’t remember the name, but there is a branch on the east side. It is one of the top Chinese restaurants in the city. It’s one of those names that if you heard it you would say of course, I know that place. You can check it out on Google to check restaurants in the area.
